Chicago deal of the day: free scooter at West Loop's Emerald

Emerald

Here’s an unusual perk: buyers at Emerald, two 12-story towers under construction on Green Street in the West Loop, can for a limited time get a free EVT-168 electric scooter with the purchase of a new condo. These non-polluting gizmos will jet you around the city at up to 45 mph – sort of an Al Gore‘s Roman Holiday.

The scooter offer is good along with several other incentives, according to a press release sent on behalf of developers Senco Development, Harlem Irving Companies and New Frontier Companies. Buyers can for a limited time also get $5,000 in free upgrades, including a movable fireplace fueled by denatured ethanol and IceStone counters embedded with colored glass. Working with Emerald’s financing partner Providence Funding Group will take another $1,000 off closing costs.

The Pappageorge / Haymes-designed building has 212 condos with one or two bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, optional bamboo floors, stainless steel or granite countertops and stone bathrooms. An 8,000-square-foot atrium with a a bar and a fitness center sits between the two buildings. Prices range from the high $200s to the high $300s, according to the release.
