Construction begins on 2028 West Division

rendering of 2028 West Division

When Ranquist Development first announced this project at 2028 W Division St in Wicker Park, it went by the name of “SoHo,” because it was supposed to evoke “SoHo or the East Village in New York – where you’d see cobblestone streets or something,” Karen Ranquist of RCR Realty told Kate Hawley in 2007. Since then, Ranquist seems to have dropped the Manhattan moniker, but the six-unit Osterhaus McCarthy-designed building appears to be going forward.

Ground broke on 2028 West Division about two weeks ago, and Ranquist is ready to start seriously marketing the building. She says she feels comfortable going ahead with 2028 West Division because her other projects at 1711 W Division St and 2157 W Division St fared well (and sold out), and she doesn’t feel like she’s competing with herself at this point.

As I wrote in an April post, one of the six condos in 2028 West Division has sold, and the remaining units are priced from the $590s to the $790s.
