West Lakeview isn’t a neighborhood that gets mentioned much anymore in real-estate listings, largely because anything within a half-mile radius of Roscoe and Damen is described as “Roscoe Village.” According to Yo’s official neighborhood boundaries, Roscoe Village is actually a sub-neighborhood of West Lakeview, bounded by Belmont, Addison, Damen and Western, while West Lakeview extends west to the river, south to Diversey, and two blocks further east, to Ravenswood.
Roscoe Street, which is populated with a healthy mix of shops, restaurants and bars, is the main drag in Roscoe Village, and the street life on Roscoe is probably a main contributor to the neighborhood’s swelling popularity. Despite the hype, Roscoe Village stays true to its name, as it still feels more like a quaint village than most North Side neighborhoods.
