Hansberry Square – setting land-speed records in sales

We posted recently about Hansberry Square, a residential project that’s part of the massive Legends South mixed-income community. The development recently broke ground on 12 acres on the former site of The Robert Taylor Homes. Today we hear that buyers snapped up 21 market-rate condos at Hansberry Square in the first two days of sales at the weekend. A further 35 remain for sale at the site, at South State Street between 40th and Root streets.

When you’re selling one- and two-bedroom condos priced from the $210s and single-family homes priced from the $440s to the $520s, you don’t need to do too much advertising.

Hansberry Square seems to be on track to beat the current spring 2006 sales record, set at the conversion project Mildred Court Condominiums, where 47 of the 50 units were sold after three weeks on the market. Buyers know a bargain when they see one: at Mildred Court, condos were priced from the $190s, a steal for the L.P.

Does anyone know of a project that has sold out faster this spring?
