McCormick Place deal dead, Old Main Post Office in the wings

by Joe Zekas on 3/22/12

I’m frequently stunned by the credulity of Chicago’s major media.

While Crain’s Chicago Business was reporting a “massive hotel, retail and entertainment project next to McCormick Place” last October, I supplied the following take on the developer:

I can’t spend much time on Winners Development’s website without gagging on what strikes me as a mound of undistilled BS. I’ll just move on to jump-starting Chicago’s 2020 Olympics bid and my plans to turn Englewood into Winnetka.

Crain’s reported the deal’s demise yesterday.

We look forward to Crain’s report on the fate of the Old Main Post Office.

On the other hand, right next door things are looking up. After having been a notorious dust bunny for a long time, the Lex is renting. This will definitely help encourage the economic development of this area.
