Motor Row development on overdrive

Lofts on the Row II Lofts on the Row

Motor Row Condominiums

U.S. auto manufacturers may be in a free fall, but development in Chicago’s historic Motor Row District is still going strong. Two fourth-floor lofts remain at the first phase of Graceland Development’s Lofts on the Row (top right), located at 2332 S Michigan Ave. Only a Burger King stands between that building and the site of Motor Row Condominiums (right), Rokas International‘s 94-unit new-construction building. Graceland also is planning a new-construction second phase (top left) immediately to the south of Lofts on the Row. That building, like Motor Row Condos, promises to break up its facade into three different parts, albeit less dramatically than Motor Row, which has three distinct and retro-styled segments. Lofts on the Row II shows two five-story segments with a taller one in the middle that allows for some nice rooftop terraces, and the entire facade is heavy on glass.
