Drexel Parc Lofts nearing a sellout

Drexel Parc Lofts

Five units remain at Drexel Parc Lofts, the 59-unit soft-loft conversion at 4537 S Drexel Blvd in North Kenwood, according to Jerry Houlihan, director of marketing for developer Sutherland Pearsall Development Corporation. Four of these are penthouses and one is a two-bedroom, two-bath unit currently occupied by the sales center on the first floor, he said.

The units have exposed ductwork and open floor plans, with hardwood floors in the living areas and carpet in the bedrooms. The kitchens feature Canac cabinets, Moen faucets and granite counters. Prices begin at $324,000, including parking.

The seven-story building, which dates to 1895, housed a nursing home before it was abandoned, Houlihan said. Sutherland Pearsall completed the conversion about a year ago, he added.

The upper-floor units have some remarkable views; on a recent visit, the rooftops of the neighborhood’s many churches were visible through the fog. Below, students from King College Prep High School just to the north of the building streamed along the sidewalks, toting books and backpacks.

Sutherland Pearsall currently has nine active developments in the Bronzeville area, most of them along Drexel Boulevard: Drexel Court Townhomes, Drexel Place Condominiums, Lake Park Place, Boulevard Townhomes on Drexel, West Point Village Townhomes, Kenwood Mansions on the Boulevard, 4715 S Champlain Condominiums and Drexel Square Townhomes (with all nine units available).
