Sales update: Nine homes sold at The Huron

The HuronRemember The Huron? Of course you do. It’s the 28-story high-rise planned for the northeast corner of Huron and State streets, on the lots where those two old brownstones currently stand. Patrick and I visited The Huron’s sales center back in January, but we haven’t written much about it since.

During a stroll through River North last week, Mark and I stopped by the sales center to find out the latest about this project. (Check back a little later to see footage from this Joewalking excursion.) The marketing agent on duty was printing The Huron’s latest sales figures just as we were walking in the door, and she was nice enough to give us each a copy of the report.

Back in December, Tricia Fox of Keller Williams Gold Coast Realtors told Patrick that The Huron had secured reservations for 19 of the building’s 47 units. According to our new sales report, however, only nine homes are under contract. Fox had said in December that construction would begin this spring, after sales had reached the 60-percent mark; that date has moved back to this fall, according to our friend at the sales center.

The 38 remaining condominiums range from a $1.14 million three-bedroom / two-bath home with 1,728 square feet, to a $4.69 million four-bedroom / 4.5-bath penthouse with 5,627 square feet and a whopping 308 square-foot terrace. I posted the floor plan for that penthouse a couple months ago.

The Huron’s only sub-million-dollar home, a 1,641 square-foot two-bedroom priced in the $990s, was one of the nine marked as purchased.

For those of you who think of prices in terms of floor space, the report breaks those down, too: Homes at The Huron are running from $595 to $835 per square foot.
