Earlier posts in our series on the best apartment towers in River North spotlighted the buildings with the best views, the most convenient grocery shopping, the best access to public transit, parks and beaches , the expressway grid and the shortest walking distance to the Loop.
The River North neighborhood is packed with dining and nightlife venues that attract visitors from all over Chicagoland and draw hordes of tourists and conventioneers. A number of those venues have little or no, or even negative appeal to River North residents. Quite a few are enjoyed by locals and non-locals alike, and there are a number where the crowd is dominated by nearby residents.
We realize that people who spend a lot of time on the dining and nightlife scene frequently venture beyond their immediate surroundings, and that pockets of River North have better proximity than others to the thriving dining and nightlife clusters in the West Loop and the Gold Coast.
Taking account of people’s widely varying tastes and preferences in dining and nightlife, singling out one building as having the most resident-friendly nearby options is a very tough call. AMLI River North earns first place in this category due to the sheer number and variety of dining and nightlife venues within a few blocks of the building.
Every other River North apartment tower has enough restaurants and bars within a few minutes’ walk to satisfy nearly everyone.
