Earlier posts in our series on the best apartment towers in River North concentrated on their location. We spotlighted the buildings with the best views, the most convenient grocery shopping, the best access to retail shops, public transit, parks and beaches , the expressway grid, the most nearby dining and nightlife, and the shortest walking distance to the Loop.
We then shifted focus to the buildings themselves, beginning with affordability, the topic that’s top-of-mind with many renters, and moving on to the best building amenities, boutique ambiance, and the most pet-friendly environment.
In our final group of posts, we turned our attention to the apartments, beginning with apartment finishes and features and private outdoor space.
If you can afford to pay $2,700 a month for a studio – and there are units in River North renting for that amount – you are probably also looking at 1-bedrooms, and might even be considering a 2-bedroom. The great majority of studio / convertible renters, however, have affordability as a top-of-mind consideration, and so we only looked at units renting for less than $1,700 a month in making our selection.
Our best-of-River-North choice is the 11 Tier studio at One Superior Place. Currently available units were renting from $1,521 for a unit on the 38th floor to $1,580 for a unit on the 50th floor.
Features that weighed in our selection included a separate sleeping alcove, a walk-in closet and a generously-sized recessed balcony. The units have kitchens with a decent amount of cabinets, granite counters, and a full suite of appliances including a washer / dryer.
Units in this tier have unobstructed views to the north.
We also considered the fact that One Superior Place is a full-amenity building with an attractive location and a Whole Foods in the building.
