Rock out in an Irving Park Loft

Belmont Lofts, 4131 W Belmont Ave in Belmont Gardens, Chicago

For authentic loft conversions in Chicago, places like the South Loop and River North stand out as go-to neighborhoods. After reading about the “Wilco Loft” in LoftLife Magazine, however, I thought I would look into other lofts in Irving Park.

Belmont Lofts, a 54-unit conversion on the border of Irving Park and Avondale at 4131 W Belmont Ave, has one remaining developer unit: a one-bedroom / one-bath priced in the $190s (including garage parking). Three resales are on the market, all of them two-bedrooms in the $250s.

A loft in a 1914 Holabird & Roche elevator building has some interesting features. Unit 5 at 3312 W Belle Plaine Ave is a 4,500 square-foot three-bedroom / 2.5 bath listed in the $590s. It features a wood-burning fireplace, a shower with two shower heads, two kitchens, and views in all directions.

For new, loft-style units, the Elston Timber Lofts at 3641 N Elston Ave still has six developer units on the market. Every unit is two-bedroom / two-bath priced from the $240s to the $270s, with garage parking included.
