Studio Dwell designs duplexes in Wicker Park

1919 W Crystal St

The folks at Studio Dwell Architects are known for their sleek and contemporary designs. For one of their latest projects in Wicker Park, they’re designing wide units with dens bigger than the master bedrooms.

The new-construction project, 1919 W Crystal St, consists of nine duplexes priced from the mid-$600s to the $800s, according to Nate Ryle, a sales agent with @properties. RMR Group is developing the project.

All units have two bedrooms and two baths with a den, Ryle says. They range from 1,700 square feet to 2,200 square feet. Some units are 37 feet wide and have 20-foot ceilings in some areas, he adds. In one floor plan, the master bedroom is 13 by 14 feet while the study is 18 by 10 feet.

Ryle considers the contemporary design a selling point in a crowded market. “We get calls just based on Studio Dwell’s name,” he says.

The building is sleek in nearly every sense of the word: on the outside, it’s steel and masonry adorned with limestone and cedar accents. Large aluminum thermal-paned windows complete the facade.

Interior features include white oak floors, recessed lighting, wall mounted Duravit-Vero sinks, Toto toilets, optional heated floors in the master bathroom, granite counters and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen.

All nine are available and deliveries are expected in April 2008, according to Ryle. Garage parking is included.
