On Saturday April 11 teams from four universities presented feasibility studies to build a deck over a part of the Kennedy Expressway in downtown Chicago. The “cap the Kennedy” concept was originally suggested by architect Scott Sarver and has been advanced by developer Steve Fifield.

Teams from Marquette University, Roosevelt University, the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Illinois in Urbana participated in the event, the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation’s 2015 Midwest Real Estate Challenge.

A panel of judges awarded first place to the team from Roosevelt University, and runner-up status to the University of Illinois at Urbana presenters.

Steve Fifield delivered closing remarks. The award presentations were made by Al Klairmont of Imperial Realty and Randy Fifield of the Fifield Companies.
