The nearly news: high-end Bronzeville

The most expensive home for sale in Bronzeville today is 3443 S Indiana St, built in 2007. This five-bedroom / 3.5-bath single-family home, marketed by Baird & Warner in the $690s, has a “chef’s kitchen,” two fireplaces, and a two-car garage off the alley. With 4,200 square feet and other standard features for this class of home, 3443 S Indiana St is more affordable than its North Side counterparts.

While the address receives a “Very Walkable” score of 85 on WalkScore.com, the options are limited to a Starbucks a quarter-mile away, a Jewel-Osco a little further, and no restaurants except a wide selection of fast food.  However, a short drive could get you to Chinatown, Hyde Park or the South Loop.

The problem with this single family home is that it is too close to 35th Street, a very ify commercial street chalk full of fried chicken places, sneaker and cellphone retailers, and assorted riffraff.

reality,

Welcome to YoChicago.

The reality here is that we don’t much care for people who run down the people in a neighborhood.
