Super-NIMBYs attack in Chatham

Compared to Chicago’s unions, neighborhood groups are namby-pamby-NIMBYs. Whatever toll traditional NIMBYs might take on Chicago’s development pales in comparison to the costs that unions impose on Chicago home buyers and residents.

Today’s Chicago Tribune recounts yet another harsh “screw you” to the city’s African-American residents from the unions that excluded them from membership and jobs for so many years. The residents of Chatham, speaking through their alderman, want a Wal-Mart. The unions say “not in our back yard – the city.” End of story?
