Sappanos Paint closed several years ago after a long run at 2940 N Halsted in Lakeview.
The one-story building on the site had been completely demolished and workers were stacking up the salvageable brick when I stopped by late last week.
Plans are in the works for a 4-story all-residential building with 25 apartments. The development is among a quietly growing number of small infill apartment projects underway on Chicago’s north side.
