A beachfront home in north Evanston

“I can’t remember the last time a beachfront property came on the market north of downtown in Evanston,” said Mary Ellen Tainer when she alerted me to a home that’s only been on the market for a few days and has already received several offers. Tainer, who manages Prudential Rubloff’s office, is one of our local correspondents, and a veteran of the North Shore real estate scene.

I headed over to the property, hoping to get a chance to see the yard, which has an in-ground pool and spans more than 300 feet. rambling across the dunes to Lake Michigan.

The listing agent, Carol Bild of Prairie Shore Properties, introduced me to the owners. We admired the view of the lake for a few minutes, chatting about their children and grandchildren’s happy days at the home. Yesterday, they reported, the Purple Martins arrived at the birdhouse in the back yard, on their epic annual migration from Brazil.

The 6 bedroom, 3 ½ bath home, on just over half an acre, is priced at $2,250,000.
