The Metropolitan Square development in downtown Des Plaines represents an extensive makeover of an inner-ring Chicago suburb. The development comprised offices, retail, dining and residential components and significantly changed the downtown area.
I stopped on a sleepy Memorial Day weekend Sunday for a brief walk around downtown, and a look at what the planners call “transit-oriented development.”
