A drive north along Lake Shore Drive

Crossing the Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan Jay Gatsby saw “the city rising up … in white heaps and sugar lumps all built with a wish out of non-olfactory money.”

Join Joe Askins and me as we drive Lake Shore Drive from 3900 south to Montrose Ave, envisioning Chicago’s magical skyline and the “city seen for the first time in its first wild promise of all the mystery and the beauty in the world.”

We’d stopped at the Lake Park Crescent development before beginning our drive, reaching Streeterville in just about 7 minutes.

Part two of our drive is at YouTube.
