We see so many new condo buildings that are made to look “vintage” that, on first glance, we thought Deming Flats, 548 W Deming Pl, was new construction. The brick and stone building, which looks remarkably well preserved, is set far back from the street, and its considerable depth is obscured by large pine trees. The conversion underway will yield 27 rehabbed simplex and duplex condos with one or two bedrooms, and prices start in the $210s. Yeah, it’s nice to live in a charming vintage building, but have fun hauling the Lazy Boy up to a fourth-floor walk-up.
