I’m guessing more people in a day pass by the rear of Broadway Village Lofts than the front (the red and purple el lines run behind the building), so it’s something of a shame that most people are only getting an eyeful of the devastated back end of the former industrial laundry building. The front of the circa-1920s building, located at 5427 N Broadway St, has a vintage charm that screams adaptive reuse. Developer Dino Amiros is adding one floor of new construction to the three-story building and expanding it by about 40 feet in the rear. The development’s 24 one-bedroom lofts will have 13-foot ceiling heights, exposed ductwork and new recessed balconies. Prices range from the $230s to the $250s, and a sales center is located on-site.
