Want a Chicago house with green space? Look for preserves, not yards

“Chicago” and “wilderness” aren’t words you often hear together, unless they’re meant metaphorically, or in reference to Chicago Wilderness Magazine. If you’re buying a home in the city, the odds are good you aren’t going to have a lot of private green space. Which is why buying near public green space, such as the pleasant North Park Village Nature Center, might be the way to go if you like grass and trees and such. Chicago Wilderness has a quick profile of the North Park center in its online addition, as well as features on volunteer habitat restoration and development at Indiana Dunes State Park.
