Ever do it yourself, buy the bar a round? A couple of nights ago we posed the question to the bartender at Lange’s, a corner tavern that has evaded the Southport Gentrification (Belmont to Iriving Park Road), despite being in the thick of it a block south of Addison.
Sure, she said, she’d bought drinks for the whole bar before. It ran her about $90 once, and less another time. And the only reason it creeped up into the $90 range the first time was because some punk kids ordered fancy $9 shots when all night long they had been drinking Bud long necks.
When someone offers to buy you a drink, whether you know them or not, order what you want but don’t order something that you wouldn’t want to pay for yourself. And someday before you’re too old to be hanging out in bars, buy the whole joint a round.
