Chicago cemeteries: people are dying to live across from them?

Our last post on the new development Rainbo Village, 4836 N Clark St, pointed out the great location in Uptown. We didn’t mention that it sits across the street from St Boniface Cemetery, just up the road from the even larger Graceland Cemetery. While some at Yo argue that this is a plus (quieter than living across from a park but still plenty of green space and possibly more sunlight), I just can’t set aside the whole creep factor. When my girlfriend and I stumbled across an awesome apartment near this same cemetery, she summed up her reservations quite nicely with, “You want me to sleep across the street from dead people? No way. This is a definite deal breaker.”

Live across from a cemetery and want to shout out the positives or negatives (or just the ghost stories)? Can’t imagine a peaceful life so close to eternal slumber, or can’t imagine a better buffer for urban life? Click on “Comments” and weigh in.
