Occasionally we come across Flickr photosets filled with great old pictures of the Windy City. Today, “Colonel Tribune” pointed readers to another blast from the past: “Chicago the Beautiful,” an MGM Traveltalks newsreel dating back to 1948, back when you could still look down on the rest of the city from the top of the Board of Trade Building. You won’t get a glimpse of any new condos in this video, but if you watch the reel and any of our videos back-to-back, you’ll get a great idea of just how much downtown has changed in the past 60 years.
