With high-profile condo high-rises hogging the new construction spotlight, some have speculated that the townhome may be an endangered species. But on the South Side, where land costs generally are lower, a fair number of new townhouse developments are underway. Here’s a sampling:

Beverly Place (pictured), at 1824 W 103rd St, offers 28 townhomes with two to four bedrooms from the $390s to the $510s.

The Wabash Club, at 2390 S Wabash Ave, has 62 two-bedroom townhomes from the low $400s.

McKinley Gardens, at 3250 S Western Ave, has 69 townhomes with three or four bedrooms from the $280s to the $300s.

The Arches at Oakwood Shores, 3867 S Ellis Ave, has 32 two-bedroom townhomes. Remaining units are priced from the $360s.

Jazz on the Boulevard has townhomes with two or three bedrooms priced from the $350s.
