City living, suburban location connect at Everleigh

Everleigh

A condominium in a Chicago suburb is a far cry from an office building in Warsaw. Yet the two are similar in the eyes of Michael Glazier, a principal of Sertus Capital Partners, the developer of Everleigh, a 144-unit, nine-story condominium project under construction at 1646 River St in Des Plaines.

Glazier takes advantage of every business opportunity, whether it’s a project in Poland or a project in Des Plaines. Everleigh represents his response to the ever-increasing demand for luxurious urban-like living in the Chicago suburban market.

“‘Sertus’ in Latin means ‘linked’ or ‘connected,’” says Glazier, who wanted to create a luxury condominium lifestyle near suburban transit systems.

“Everleigh is just a block from the Metra station. That location makes it a convenient extension of city living into DesPlaines for those who work downtown or want proximity to O’Hare or the expressways.”

The downtown Des Plaines setting provides an ideal location for a building that is truly the first of its kind for the area. The warm masonry glass and renaissance exterior creates a new architectural context between the downtown area and the forest preserve that borders one entire side of the building.

“The truth is that the footprint of the structure takes up just 40 percent of the site,” says Rael Slutzky of A. Epstein and Sons International, the project’s architects. “The forest preserve literally flows right onto the property, and the absence of any tall buildings allows for views all the way to downtown Chicago on clear days.”

Slutzky points out that this contemporary, forward-looking building was extremely well received by Des Plaines, even while it was still on the drawing board.

“There is no question that Everleigh raises the bar for design standards in Des Plaines,” says the architect. “It brought urban living to this community, and it makes a huge contribution to a vibrant, growing neighborhood.”

The building entrance is just steps away from a gourmet European grocery, health club, spa, restaurants, and the Metra station. Its warm, welcoming lobby features a broad spectrum of colors and materials including a beautiful porcelain tile floor and acoustical fabric clouds.

Everleigh features one- to three-bedroom residences starting from the $200s. All of the units have an open design with floor-to-ceiling glass and a large living area. The design of the building incorporates two jogs, thereby adding more corner units, more surface area and more spacious, yet intimate balconies.

Some of the unit features include wood flooring in the kitchen, great room, dining room, and hallways, engineered sound-resistant ceilings and walls, solid wood entry doors, brushed chrome door hardware, optional washer/dryer hookups, and a 24-hour fire suppression system including sprinklers for building and units.

Kitchen finishes include granite or solid-surface countertops with backsplash and breakfast bar overhang, 42-inch upper cabinets, stainless-steel appliances including range, microwave, dishwasher, disposal and refrigerator with water line and icemaker, chrome faucet with pull-out sprayer and a double-bowl, stainless-steel sink.

Baths feature double-bowl vanities in master bath, cultured marble vanity tops with integral bowls, 12-inch ceramic tile flooring, ceramic tile tub and shower surrounds, designer chrome plumbing fixtures, and separate soaker tubs and showers per plan.

The Everleigh sales center is located at 1646 River St in Des Plaines. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
