Normally, when a developer fails to properly spell or punctuate the name of a development, it’s no big deal. I see intentional (pointe, parque) and unintentional (realstate) misspelling in real-estate listings on a daily basis, but this one could actually be considered false advertising. There is only one river that I know of near Walsh Development’s The Homes of Rivers Edge, so “Rivers Edge” should be “River’s Edge.”
Yes, a misplaced apostrophe can be cause for uproar.
As you can see in the above photo, the development features two large condo buildings located along Diversey Avenue (the Web site has them at 2801 N Oakley Ave and 2811 N Bell Ave) that comprise 76 condos. To the north are 11 townhouses, and six single-family homes will be located along the Chicago River.
Courtney Craig from Century 21 Sussex & Reilly says that 22 of the condos are still available, 17 of which are located in the building at 2811 N Bell Ave. They all have two bedrooms and two or three baths. The townhouses are still under construction (see photos below), and six of the 11 row houses are still for sale. None of the single-families are up yet, and Craig says the developer won’t build them until they are sold so that they can be fully customized.
The remaining condos are priced from the $340s to the $540s, and parking is offered for an extra $25,000, while the row houses are priced from the $670s to the $690s. Prices for the single-family homes haven’t yet been posted on the project’s Web site, as Craig says the developer is preoccupied with selling the remaining condos and townhouses.
