Normally, when I see that a new construction project in the Loop / downtown area hasn’t been written about on Yo for more than a year and a half, I assume something is wrong. In the case of One Place Condominums at 1 E 8th St in the Loop, construction seems to be proceeding as planned.
I can’t report on how these condos are selling because I haven’t managed to reach anyone at the sales department, but the balconies are up on State Street, and construction on the the 10-story building appears to be nearing completion.
According to the development Web site, One Place has 96 one- and two-bedroom condos, 18,000 square feet of retail (it looks like Lou Malnati’s pizza is one of the tenants), and a 44,000 square-foot Xsport Fitness’s health club (that’s pretty big). According to NewHomeNotebook.com, these units are priced from the $240s, and the banner on State Street says that two-bedroom / two-baths are priced from the $290s. The banner also says, “Move in this August,” but I can’t say whether or not anyone has moved in yet.
