Afraid developers won’t do a thorough job rehabbing your new condo? Home improvement junkies can do their own quality control in Wicker Park. Prime Properties Realty is selling the condos at 2225 W North Ave “as is” for buyers to renovate themselves. At closing, the seller contributes a $5,000 renovation allowance to the buyer and $5,000 to the condo association for the renovation and upkeep of common areas. That probably doesn’t go too far at Lowe’s, but the price tag on these condos starts in the $140s. Units have one or two bedrooms and one bathroom, and four of the building’s eight units remain unsold. What do you think? A deal and a half or a nightmare in the making?
