Evanston's Stained Glass features wine and foie gras

The Stained Glass (1735 Benson Ave., 847-864-8600), an Evanston restaurant that would fit right in if it were in River North or Lincoln Park, prides itself on its wine program, particularly its wines by the glass. (Thus the name, you see.)

It’s also a place worth going if you’re Jonesing for the fatted duck liver recently outlawed within the city limits. The Stained Glass’s foie gras “BLT” sandwich is an Appetizer Worth the Trip.

On Sept. 19 the restaurant is hosting a special wine dinner featuring the wines of the South Pacific. For $65 you get four glasses of wine (from Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Argentia) and a four-course meal. No word on whether the foie gras club is involved but I’m sure you could get one on the side. If you ask nicely enough you can get just about anything in a good restaurant.
