This four-unit building at 1954 N Wilmot Ave in Bucktown has actually been completed for quite a while, but this is the first photo we’ve gotten of the place. It looks awfully similar to that “rock on Rockwell” place Joe wrote about a few days ago, and if I were colorblind, I’d say it’s a perfect execution of the architect’s rendering.
Located between a couple of turn-of-the-century three-flats to the south and a McDonald’s parking lot to the north, 1954 Wilmot doesn’t do much to camouflage itself, but then again, I doubt the architect was hoping this building would blend in with its surroundings. Wilmot is a pretty pleasant street, but looking out on a McDonald’s every day would be a serious strike against this place.
The building at left in the above photo (behind the dumpsters) is 1954 Wilmot, and the one at right is Baer Lofts.
I haven’t been able to reach anyone from the @properties marketing team, but I did find two listings for a pair of three-bedroom / 3.5-bath duplexes in this development. One is a 2,376 square-foot unit priced in the $590s, and the other unit has access to the back yard and is priced in the $620s (no square footage is listed for that one).
Comparing that 2,376 square-foot three-bedroom duplex with the 1,135 square-foot three-bedroom in the Baer Lofts that Joe just wrote about, the 1954 Wilmot unit is selling for about $248 per square foot and the Baer Lofts unit is going for about $484 per square foot. That’s a significant price disparity, but residents of both buildings will have one thing in common: They’ll enjoy the enticing aroma of McDonald’s new Southern Style Chicken.
