Now that Lake View‘s 901-unit Park Place Tower is sold out, The Enterprise Companies‘ University Commons, located at 1000 W 15th St in University Village, looks poised to take the crown as the largest condo conversion in the city. Unlike Park Place, which crammed all its units into a massive high-rise, University Commons spreads its 824 units over five blocks worth of these endless three-story rows. It looks vaguely like an open-air penitentiary with lots of landscaping and tré chic angular balconies, and it must be hell trying to figure out where you live if you’re stumbling home drunk in the middle of the night (not that we have that problem), but the historic terra cotta structures do have their charm.
