Kardas of the day: Rughead at Mod

Rughead at Mod

Meet Rughead, one of Chicago’s more photogenic construction workers, brought to you by New Homes photographer extraordinaire, Michael Kardas.

Kardas had some fun with Rughead and his partner Bobby (who, as Joe aptly noted, looks a bit like Sgt. Slaughter in the background of the photo below, at left) at the construction site for Mod in the West Loop. He got him to brandish his boxing gloves and pose for a few photos. I can’t tell for certain, but it also looks like Rughead’s do-rag is covered in dollar bills.

Back in February when Joe visited the frozen construction site for Mod at 1222 – 1224 W Madison St, he explained the name and spelled it out for viewers as, “M-o-d, as in suits and thin ties and kids riding Vespas and listening to The Who.” Those things may be true when construction is completed, but for now, thin ties and Vespas are out and harnesses and boxing gloves are in.
