Walking through Millennium Park on Saturday I concluded that Cloud Gate, or “the Bean,” as it’s known colloquially–a fact we passed on to some Polish- or Russian-sounding tourists–is indeed quite impressive.
It was my first time seeing the Bean with the seams polished away, and boy-ol’-boy, it’s pretty cool. Everyone else looking at it seemed to have a similar impression, although no one used those words.
One of the tourists said to me, “Yes, but what kind of bean?”
“Lima,” I said.
He looked skeptical.
