Rubloff Development Group is proposing a 120-acre retail development that would include a Home Depot on I-47 at Powers Road, near Huntley, according to a story in today’s Chicago Tribune. The development would replace a family farm (of course) and come on the heels of massive residential and commercial development in the area. In the city, retail development tends to lag residential, but that’s not always the case in exurbia. An admittedly biased competing developer warns that Huntley could be on track to develop six times as much retail as the area can support.
