Residents establish Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance

This should interest a few of you: a new resident group calling itself the Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance has been established to monitor residential and commercial development.

“The PDNA was founded in order to promote the continuing economic revitalization of the South Loop and to preserve the character and historic integrity of the Prairie Avenue District,” said treasurer Jeffery Ayersman, in a press release sent to Yo. “This area is a rare jewel, and as good citizens who take pride in Chicago, we must take an active role in conservation efforts.”

The group also plans to address such issues as cultural diversity, education and schools, street parking, traffic improvements and public safety.

Ald Madeline Haithcock (2nd) is quoted as saying she’s pleased to be working closely with the new group, which formed in October.
