Seat slots available for Evanston 4th of July parade

If you’re familiar with all the hoopla that surrounds the 4th of July parade in Evanston, you know that lawn chairs begin lining a more than mile-long stretch of Central Street at 6 a.m. on July 1st. A city ordinance prohibits the placement of chairs on the street parkway prior to that time.

Back to the headline. When I traversed Central Street late yesterday there were still a number of small areas that hadn’t been chaired over. You’re unlikely to get a front row seat by the time the North Shore’s best parade starts at 2 p.m. on the 4th, so grab your lawn chairs and head for Central Street today to reserve your spot.

The best fireworks show on the North Shore is in Wilmette, and it starts at 9:30 July 3rd.
