Signs of life at 1555 Wabash

155 Wabash construction

Judging from this photo I took over the weekend, it looks like construction of 1555 Wabash, New West Realty‘s 14-story South Loop high-rise, has gotten off the ground.

1555 Wabash renderingAbout 60 percent of the building’s 176 units have been sold, according to sales agent Brian Deines. One- and two-bedroom condos are still available, and Deines says that some one-bedrooms have been reduced in price to $254,900. (One-bedrooms had been listed in New Home Notebook from the $270s.)

Building assessments will probably cost between $300 and $400 per month, Deines estimates. They’ll cover heat, air conditioning, water, and basic cable in the home, as well as access to the building’s fitness center, sun deck, and car-wash port. Garage parking is an extra $33,000.

Deines expects deliveries on the third, fourth and fifth floors to begin in November or December, and a model will open in the building later this fall. A sales center is located in the southwest corner of Wabash Avenue and 16th Street, kitty-corner to the construction site.
