Stone Point Condos is luring former Bridgeporters home, agent says

You can take the kid out of Bridgeport — but there’s a good chance he’ll return when it’s time to buy his first home, local real estate agents like to say. But when first-time buyers feel the gravitational pull of the tight-knit neighborhood they often pass on the ubiquitous vintage bungalows and two-flats in favor of newer homes, according to a spokesperson for Vision Group Realty & Marketing.

Such buyers are fueling sales of the one- and two-bedroom units at developer Ferro-DiPiazza Inc.’s Stone Point Condominiums, said the spokesperson, who’s marketing the mid-rise project at 2801 S. Halsted St. “For those buyers, there’s a lot of loyalty to the neighborhood, plus their extended family lives nearby,” he said. “We’re also seeing empty-nester locals who are downsizing.”

Stone Point’s thirty-six residences have one bedroom and one bath or two bedrooms and two baths and range from 775 to 1,229 square feet. Kitchens are finished with granite countertops, 42-inch cabinets and black or white Frigidaire appliances, and bathrooms have Moen faucets, cultured marble vanities and ceramic tile floors. The living areas have hardwood floors and bedrooms are carpeted. Stone Point’s one-bedroom condos were priced from the $190s and the two-bedrooms from the $300s to the $370s. The developer expects to break ground in spring 2007, and plans to deliver units in the second half of 2008.
