Tribune backs Cochran in Ald. Troutman's 20th ward

It’s a bit of a no-brainer, but Yo’s truly says three cheers to the Chicago Tribune for not endorsing Ald. Arenda Troutman (20th) for another term. I’m not familiar with the candidate the Trib is backing – businessman and retired police sergeant Willie B. Cochran – who the Trib says has helped develop non-profit housing. But the Tribune’s explanation for its endorsement of Cochran is well put: “The ward’s proximity to Jackson Park, the lakefront and the University of Chicago should make it attractive for development, and Cochran understands that potential. He would develop it without asking, “Where’s mine?” Cochran is endorsed.”
