Get your resolutions ready because Sunday begins the Chinese New Year. It’s the Year of the Dog, 4704. And me, I was just getting used to writing 4703 on my checks.
To celebrate, make your way to Big Bowl at either 6 E. Cedar St. (312-640-8888) or 60 E. Ohio St. (312-951-1888), for a weekend filled with food specials, giveaways and lion dances. There’s a party going on this weekend at the Schaumburg Big Bowl, too, if you are inclined to head out there. Like Confucius said, the longest journey begins with a single step.
If you happen to hit Big Bowl on Sunday and you overindulge–as I end up doing at every New Year’s party, Chinese or not–here’s a tip for Monday morning: Ring in the Year of the Dog with a little hair of the dog. That’s right–down a couple of shooters before heading into work. Your boss will understand. They always do.
