Your daddy's rich: practice that swing at Astoria Tower's golf simulator

With summer officially starting tomorrow, Chicago’s golf courses will surely be chock-full of plaid pants and funny hats for the next couple months. The new Astoria Tower, at State and 9th streets in the South Loop, is planning to satisfy its residents’ jones for the fairway year-round with an indoor golf simulation room.

Players swing at a screen that projects their shots and measures distance, and the device even allows for changes in wind resistance. Sounds well and good, but will there be a golf cart and caddies on hand? Frosty beverages? The smell of fresh-mown grass?

Astoria Tower also has a spa with a swimming pool, Whirlpool, fitness center, yoga room and billiards room. A “spa concierge” can arrange private massage and body treatments, but he definitely will not tote your golf clubs. The Tower’s 241 units range from studios to three-bedrooms and are priced from the $250s to $890s.
