The Loop is Community Area 32 of the 77 on the city’s official list. Its official boundaries are from Roosevelt Rd (1200 S) north to the Chicago River, and Lake Michigan west to the Chicago River.
The Loop is more commonly thought of as the area bounded by the El tracks and the streets that border the El: Van Buren St (400 S) to Lake St (200 N), Wabash Ave (45 E) to Wells St (200 W). The Loop includes ZIP codes 60601 through 60607.
The Loop is bordered on the north by River North and Streeterville, on the west by the West Loop, University Village, Fulton Market and Fulton River District and on the south by the South Loop.
The New East Side and the Lakeshore East development are part of the larger Loop neighborhood.
