Housing boom shifting to McKinley Park with Dubin's McKinley Park Village

McKinley Park is the new Bridgeport. Dubin Residential, the developer that likes to venture into neighborhoods that have seen little new construction, offering buyers new homes at slightly lower prices, is at it again. This time it’s McKinley Park Village, a development of 134 townhomes and 110 condos at 36th Street and Western Avenue (no rendering available yet).

The three- to four-bedroom townhomes are priced from the high $200s to the high $300s, and two-bedroom condos are priced from the $200s to the $220s. The condo prices are around $50,000 cheaper than similar new construction units in nearby Bridgeport, according to Dubin’s Mike Kelahan. Townhome sales don’t kick off until October 28, and condos won’t go on sale until January. Dubin expects to draw buyers who already live in the neighborhood or in other South Side areas such as Chinatown, the South Loop and Bridgeport, Kelahan says.

The neighborhood of course has the eponymous park, and although it doesn’t have a trendy retail and restaurant scene, it’s got some “family-friendly” eateries, to quote Kelahan. Any McKinley Parkers want to share their thoughts on residential development in those parts, and what the neighborhood’s like in general?
