X/O Condominiums sales center aims to impress

Chicago-based Riha Design Group is betting it’s no coincidence when a residential development with a swank sales center registers 1,500 prospects for fewer than 500 units before sales even begin. Riha designed the sales center for Irongate Development’s Trump Tower Waikiki, which sold 464 units priced from the $400s to more than $9 million in just over eight hours. Considering a slowing market for home sales, the design group thinks the Hawaiian development’s numbers give a well deserved boost to all the egos involved.

Riha has designed more than 500 sales centers for developments worldwide, including Chicago’s Park Monroe, which we’ve already shown you, Legacy at Millennium Park, Mandarin Oriental Tower, Museum Park and Lakeshore East. For its latest at X/O Condominiums, Design Group president Kenneth Riha decided to install floor-to-ceiling glass touch-screen panels inspired by the movie Minority Report. Visitors can pull up floor plans, view features and amenities, and even print from the futuristic panels.
The X/O sales center is not releasing sales numbers at this time.

As we approach the end of the year, we’re going to be talking with some of the experts about their reflections on the year passed and the year ahead. We’ll be talking with Kenneth Riha on Friday about design trends, so stay tuned.
