Maybe it’s due to growing up in New Jersey, but my mind equates the absence of trees with a slum.
I’m just back from the Joliet / Plainfield area – the land beyond the trees – where the ad copy wants me to see new home subdivisions nestling, abounding and burgeoning.
My mind saw slums. Slums with 3-car garages, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. But still, slums.
You could plant a decent-sized tree for the cost of a granite countertop. How come no one does?
