Streeterville’s best apartments – Most convenient grocery shopping

by Joe Zekas on 1/3/14

The first post in our series on the best Streeterville apartments spotlighted the buildings with the best views.

We recognize that some of you are indifferent to proximity to grocery stores because you do most of your shopping online via Peapod, or rely on Whole Foods’ personal shopper / delivery service – or eat out or order in for almost all of your meals.

The recent closings of Fox & Obel and Dominick’s left Treasure Island, at 680 N Lake Shore Dr, as the only full-service grocery store in Streeterville.

Selecting the Streeterville building with the most convenient access to grocery shopping is a no-brainer: Axis, formerly known as Onterie Center, is across the street from Treasure Island and there’s also a well-regarded 7-11 around the corner from Axis. It’s worth mentioning that the Treasure Island has had mixed to negative reviews on Yelp.

Mrs Green’s has reportedly signed a lease to take over the Fox & Obel location at 401 E Illinois St, but that doesn’t affect our selection.

If you disagree with our selection, chime in with a comment.

You’ll find links to our objective, visually-rich apartment reviews of Streeterville buildings, and links to near real-time availability checks for most of the buildings, at our Near North at-a-glance list, and some tips and advice at our Guide to renting in Streeterville.

Next topic: Access to public transit.
