But Damen also has seen a quiet, gradual resurgence as residential real estate on the surrounding blocks has taken off.

What's really interesting about Damen Ave. is the stretch from Lawrence to Balmoral. There are some really nice little restaurants and bars, beauty and barber shops with excellent services at affordable prices, and a handful of antique and collectible shops with some really good "finds." One of the great "hidden treasure" neighborhoods.
