$1 houses… yes, there's a catch

Ever think you’d be able to buy a house with the change you find between the couch cushions? This article from Bankrate.com about $1 houses recently caught our eye. In some cities, rather than tear down old homes, owners offer them up for a buck to buyers who are willing to move them off the property.

In most cases, current owners want to build new construction on the lots and will demolish the existing homes unless they can get someone to relocate them.

Some old houses, of course, aren’t worth saving, but what do yo’all think about the perfectly livable houses on the North Shore that get razed to make way for McMansions? Would it be worth buying one for a buck and hauling it away? Think this might ever catch on?
